BELOW IS WHAT YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT BRITISH COUNCIL INTERNSHIP IN CHINA:
The British Council is recruiting Suitably Qualified applicants to have their internship in china.
Whatever your ambitions for the future, your internship will help you stand out from the crowd. New industries and work opportunities in China are rising faster than the skyscrapers that accommodate them, and China may soon overtake the US as the world’s largest economy. Companies across the world will value your experience of China’s culture and business practices.

You’ll also benefit from weekly Mandarin lessons and take part in business and cultural activities, offering you valuable insight into the customs and traditions of china.
BELOW ARE THE PLACES WHERE YOU CAN INTERN:
Placements are available in the following Chinese cities through our partners CRCC Asia and InternChina: These are

1.Beijing
2.Chengdu
3.Qingdao
4.Shanghai
5.Shenzhen
6.Zhuhai.
We recommend that you research each of these cities, and speak to our partners directly to decide which location is best for you. You could also ask advisers at your university, such as careers teams and Chinese departments.

Placements are available across many industry sectors, including IT, legal, marketing, design, engineering and hospitality.

BELOW ARE THE ELIGIBILITY /CRITERIA:

1.be at least 18 years old
2.be currently enrolled full-time at a UK university or have graduated from a UK university within the past year
3.have completed at least one academic year at university
4.be a UK or EU passport holder
5.have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a 2:1 degree
4.meet our student finance eligibility criteria
not be in receipt of any other Generation UK – China funding .

You cannot apply if you have previously been on a Generation UK – China internship, or taken part in a Generation UK – China scholarship programme.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST THE APPLICANTS?

Applicants will need to pay for their own flights to China, their visa and any other expenses related to your travel.

You’ll also pay for your own food and other day-to-day expenses. Costs vary depending on your standard of living, and you should also factor in whether you wish to travel and explore China in your free time. Around £50 per week should be sufficient for your daily expenses.

THE INTERNSHIP WILL COVERS THESE:

Generation UK – China funding will cover:

1.all placement fees
2.your accommodation
3.comprehensive travel insurance
4.pick-up from the airport
5.dedicated support throughout your placement.
6.You will also have access to:

6.weekly Chinese language classes
a programme of business and cultural activities.
WILL APPLICANT SPEAK CHINESE LANGUAGE ?

Do I need to speak Mandarin?
No, you don’t need any prior Chinese language skills and your language skills do not form part of your application.

However, we advise you to learn some basic phrases before you go.

During your internship, all your assignments will be in English and an English-speaking supervisor will support and manage you on your placement. You’ll improve your Mandarin throughout the placement through weekly lessons.

WHEN WILL THE INTERNSHIP START:

The internships are flexible, with start dates throughout the year. Choose the date that best suits you.

Most students choose to do their internship during their summer vacation, but many graduates prefer to start later. You’ll need to have completed the internship by the end of 2019.

The placements we offer are always for a two-month duration. You must be available for the entire duration of the placement. It is not possible to extend internships beyond the agreed programmes. We do not provide funding retrospectively for placements obtained independently through either CRCC Asia or InternChina, or in other companies.

WHAT ARE THE SELECTION PROCESS?
Internships are competitive. Funding will be awarded to students who have an excellent academic record and can demonstrate a strong interest in China.

There are three stages of assessment:

1.written application
2.telephone interview
3.final selection by the British Council.
We consider the following in assessing your application:

academic achievement
your interest in your chosen industry
your motivations for wanting to live and work in China.

We work with two partners in China: CRCC Asia and InternChina. Apply directly to one of them for Generation UK funding, using the application forms on their websites.

BELOW IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE:Applications opened on 15 October and will end on 2 December 2018 (23:59 BST).

Please note: you can only apply to one of our partners. If you apply to both, your applications will be disqualified.

NOTE THESE;

Make sure you have electronic copies of the following documentation ready to submit during the application process:

a scanned copy of your passport
scanned student finance documents – see the student finance eligibility criteria
your most recent grade transcript. Most universities will be able to provide one. If not, we can accept a screenshot of your grades in your university system, signed, dated and verified by your academic referee or university registrar.
one academic reference, typed on university letterhead paper and signed by the referee. The referee should include their academic relationship to you, your academic profile, and why they recommend you for the programme
your CV.
Please submit clear, scanned copies of your documents. We cannot accept illegible documents or photographs of documents unless otherwise specified. Your application will not be considered if you do not submit the correct documentation.
